By all measures, this Congress is the worst Congress since the beginning of our nation. And it no wonder that our economy is a mess, unemployment is so high, and our stock market is so jittery. With a gridlocked Congress our nation’s problems can never be solved.
I often get asked, “Jack, how can a single individual like you make a difference in ending gridlock in Congress?”
It only takes one person to bring two sides together. How is that done?
First of all I have a solid history of negotiating complex multi-million dollar contracts. As a division manager for Intel Corporation, I directed a spending budget of over a billion dollars a year. So I know first hand what it takes to get people to come together and negotiate.
It takes a willingness to work with everyone, not just the ones who agree with you. Hard line politics may be fine in the abstract, but in the real world, when it comes to creating policies that get Americans back to work and our economy thriving again, hard-line politics must stop and give way to real bi-partisan governing. That means, putting our people first and doing what’s best for our country and our district. And that’s what I promise to do.
Negotiating starts with a common goal or objective, which is quite different from “common ground.” Before you can begin negotiations you must agree on what you want to achieve, be it jobs, eliminating the national debt, or strengthening Medicare. Once a common objective laid out, it is possible to work cooperatively with people with differing ideas on how best to achieve those objectives. Often, you find ideas that are better than your own. But you must be willing to listen to other viewpoints.
Unfortunately, my opponent believes only in HIS narrow hard-line ideology. It’s his way or no way. No compromises – EVER, resulting in Gridlock where nothing gets done.
Open mindedness, but with clearly defined objectives is the basis for ending gridlock. I can do it, and I will do it. My opponent will not. As a hard-line career politician he’ll never bend his ideology to help this district.
This election is very important. It is only by ending gridlock that you will achieve jobs and a thriving economy. Ending gridlock is the key to getting our country back on track.
