The Ledger-Dispatch published the following letter to the editor in their November 1st edition:

Vote for Jack Uppal for Congress
With election day fast approaching, I would like to encourage those who will be voting at the polls next Tuesday to vote for Jack Uppal to represent the 4th Congressional District in the U. S. Congress. Of the two individuals on the ballot, only Mr. Uppal has shown a true concern for foothill communities and the issues that concern them. He has made numerous visits to Amador County and gone to great lengths to learn about our county and the issues of greatest concern to us. He is the only congressional or assembly candidate who was willing to participate in a local candidate forum. He is a very moderate democrat who, if elected, will do all that he can to work across the aisle to try to get Congress to actually do something. As demonstrated by his voting record, his opponent has shown himself to be absolutely unwilling to do any such thing and is apparently quite willing for the congressional log jam to continue. Isn’t it time to elect people who are willing to work across party lines to the benefit of us all?

Thanks for everyone who turned out for the March and Rally for Women's Rights on Monday, October 29th in Roseville! We had a great, enthusiastic crowd of women and men who were willing to stand up and make their voices heard for women's rights.

After marching up and down Roseville Parkway and Galleria Boulevard to the encouraging honks of passing cars, California NOW President Patricia Bellasalme and Congressional candidate Jack Uppal addressed the crowd. They drove home the message that incumbent Tom McClintock has a career-long record of voting against the issues that make the most difference in women's lives, from equal pay, to government assistance programs, to a woman's right to choose.

Here's a photo slideshow of images from the rally!

NOW President Joins Women in Major Rally Opposing Rep. Tom McClintock's Positions on Women's Rights Monday at Roseville's Galleria Mall

ROSEVILLE – Rep. Tom McClintock – already the target of seniors' protests because of his stance on getting rid of Medicare – will be the subject of a major rally Monday (Oct. 29) by women of all ages.

The March for Women's Rights will be held MONDAY (Oct. 29) at 11 a.m. at the Westfield Galleria Mall (Corner of Roseville Parkway & Galleria Blvd, under the Westfield Galleria Tower).

"We are strong. We are marching to let Tom McClintock know we are women, and we vote," according to women organizing the rally.

California NOW president Patricia Bellasalme, Congressional candidate Jack Uppal, and other women's rights activists will participate in the event.

Sponsors said they are counter-attacking lawmakers like McClintock, who have "trampled on a woman's rights. They have voted for and passed anti woman bills on equal pay, contraception, and abortion rights, ending our hard earned gains. They want to bury Roe V Wade; their Personhood Amendment would make many forms of contraception illegal."

McClintock, the incumbent opposed by challenger Jack Uppal, in the 4th CD, has voted "no" to equal pay for equal work, "no" on reproductive choice, "no" to the Violence Against Women Act, "no" to protect women against violent perpetrators and voted with Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan to redefine rape and further limit women’s reproductive choice.

A Seniors Rally at McClintock's office several weeks ago had nearly 100 participants. Sponsors expect the Women's March to be even larger.

Filmmaker Michael Moore to Endorse Congressional Challenger Jack Uppal in Race Against Incumbent McClintock at 'Bringing Home the Truth Rally' Saturday

OAKHURST, Ca. – Academy-award winning filmmaker Michael Moore will be making an "appearance" here Saturday – and endorsing Congressional candidate Jack Uppal over incumbent Tom McClintock – at a "Bringing Home The TRUTH Rally" sponsored by Yosemite Democrats.

The event starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 27) at the Oakhurst Met Cinema, and will include a live link-up and audience Q & A session with Moore, and an interaction with Congressional Candidate Jack Uppal. The evening will include a screening of Brave New Foundation's "Koch Brothers Exposed." The event is free to the public.

Uppal continues to pummel McClintock in television and radio commercials by Uppal, a retired engineer and a high technology manager. The mass media campaign targets McClintock's unpopular positions to do away with Medicare, his part in gridlock in Congress and acceptance of large, special interest contributions.

The Jack Uppal for Congress campaign announced new radio spots running throughout the heart of the 4th Congressional District. In the ad, Jack Uppal states:

"We must remove career politicians like Tom McClintock who won't work with others in Congress and refuses to bring prosperity back home. I decided to run when I watched a totally dysfunctional Congress fail to help when we needed it most during the worst recession American has faced in 80 years. Our Congress played politics and did nothing to help."
Hard-hitting television commercials are running on prime time CNN and other cable channels. In the TV spot, Uppal says he'll protect Medicare for seniors now and in the future, noting "We have a sacred obligation to our seniors to maintain Medicare for this generation and future generations....(I won't) convert it to a voucher system that is going to be insufficient and create more out-of-pocket expenses for you."

Uppal  has pointed out that McClintock has twice "voted to replace Medicare with vouchers, which will never be enough to pay the coverage that seniors have now. And, according to the Congressional Budget Office, McClintock’s votes will weaken Medicare and make it insolvent 8 years sooner. I have promised to strengthen Medicare through legislation that would eliminate provider fraud, decrease frivolous law suits, and pay providers more for positive outcomes rather than for unnecessary procedures," Uppal said.

TV, Radio Campaign Continues to Pummel Rep. Tom McClintock in Congressional Fight in California; Challenger Jack Uppal Airing CNN Commercials, and Radio Spots in District

LINCOLN, CA– Longtime incumbent Rep. Tom McClintock continues to be pummeled in a new television and radio campaign by challenger Jack Uppal, a retired engineer and a high technology manager. The mass media campaign targets McClintock's unpopular positions to do away with Medicare, his part in gridlock in Congress and acceptance of large, special interest contributions.

The Jack Uppal for Congress campaign announced new radio spots running throughout the heart of the 4th Congressional District.
In the radio commercial, Jack Uppal states:

"We must remove career politicians like Tom McClintock who won't work with others in Congress and refuses to bring prosperity back home. Our national problems will only be solved with ideas and cooperation from both parties. I decided to run when I watched a totally dysfunctional Congress fail to help when we needed it most during the worst recession American has faced in 80 years. Our Congress played politics and did nothing to help. My experience as an engineer and negotiator is
what is needed in Washington today."

"This radical change to Medicare would do great harm to our nation’s senior citizens while enriching private insurance companies. I have promised to strengthen Medicare through legislation that would eliminate provider fraud, decrease frivolous law suits, and pay providers more for positive outcomes rather than for unnecessary procedures," Uppal said.

Join us on Monday, October 8th in Granite Bay for a March and Rally to Save Medicare!

We will meet at 11 am in the Chase Bank parking lost on the northeast corner of Douglas Boulevard and Auburn-Folsom Road in Granite Bay. We'll make a short, two block march to Tom McClintock's district office.  We want to show the differences between Jack's plan to strengthen Medicare and McClintock's votes to privatize it into a voucher system.

McClintock is clearly not representing us and it is time to make our beliefs and interests known.

For further information and to RSVP, please contact Audrey Ehrlich at 916-740-2610 or renoehrlich@surewest.net.

Join Jack for a Town Hall meeting in Placerville on Monday, September 24th from 6:30 - 8 pm. The event will take place at the El Dorado County Office of Education, room B1, 6767 Green Valley Rd. (at Missouri Flat Rd) in Placerville (map & directions). Come meet Jack Uppal and hear his solutions for Medicare, jobs, and gridlock, and ask him questions about the issues that matter to you.

We have suffered another tragedy in Libya with the deaths of 4 Americans, including our Ambassador to Libya. An attack against Americans is an attack against America. As our President and our Secretary of State have said, there is just no justification possible for these murders. I too call for those responsible to be brought to justice.

But, we are not a nation that practices “ready, fire, aim.” I trust that our government is right now working to find out who was responsible for these murders and will then take the appropriate actions. There is understandable outrage in our nation at these murders, but it would be irresponsible for me, or any citizen, to speculate on what happened and to suggest actions without knowledge of the facts. But, one fact is clear- we have lost 4 Americans.

I grieve for their families, and I applaud the actions by our President and our government to punish those responsible for these crimes.

Ask yourself if McClintock really represents you, or the special interests that fund his campaign. Twice Tom McClintock has voted to replace Medicare with vouchers. The vouchers will never be enough to pay the coverage that seniors have now. And, according to the Congressional Budget Office, McClintock’s votes will weaken Medicare and make it insolvent 8 years sooner.

This radical change to Medicare would do great harm to our nation’s senior citizens while enriching private insurance companies. If elected in November, I promise to strengthen Medicare through legislation that would eliminate provider fraud, decrease frivolous law suits, and pay providers more for positive outcomes rather than for unnecessary procedures.

This election is a choice between privatizing Social Security and Medicare, or keeping them strong for generations to come.
